N-Valeric Acid

N-Valeric Acid

N-Valeric acid, or pentanoic acid, is a straight-chain alkyl carboxylic acid with the chemical formula C5H10O2. Like other low-molecular-weight carboxylic acids. It is found naturally in the perennial flowering plant valerian (Valeriana officinalis), from which it gets its name. Its primary use is in the synthesis of its esters. Volatile esters of valeric acid tend to have pleasant odors and are used in perfumes and cosmetics. Ethyl valerate and pentyl valerate are used as food additives because of their fruity flavors.

Introduction

N-Valeric Acid, with the molecular formula of C5H10O2, is a colorless transparent liquid with a pungent sour smell. It has a purity of up to 99.5%, is stable at room temperature and pressure, has a boiling point of 110-111°C, and a flash point of 192 degrees Fahrenheit. It is mainly used in the production of valeric acid esters and is a key raw material for the manufacture of fragrances, plasticizers, lubricants, and pharmaceutical intermediates (such as estradiol valerate).

Advantages

1. High purity and stability
The purity of N-Valeric Acid can reach a minimum of 99.5%. At room temperature and pressure, valeric acid shows good stability, reducing potential risks during transportation and storage.

2. Good physical and chemical properties
The solubility of N-Valeric Acid in water is 40 g/L (20°C), and it shows good dispersibility in the solution. The boiling point is 110-111°C (10 mmHg), and the flash point is high, reaching 192 degrees Fahrenheit, indicating that it has high safety during operation.

3. Environmental safety
N-Valeric Acid is a colorless and transparent liquid with no obvious pollution during use. It is suitable for wide application in different industrial and scientific research fields. Its storage conditions are simple, and it only needs to be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, and it is not easy to decompose or undergo chemical changes.

4. Low toxicity
N-Valeric Acid has no obvious toxicity to the human body under safe use conditions, especially in the application of the pharmaceutical and food industries, which can effectively reduce potential health risks.
